About Us
The Criterion is an Association of Muslim Women in Business and the Professions. It is a faith-based, non-governmental organisation, passionate about the welfare of women and children. The organisation was established over 30 years ago with activities focusing around education, reproductive health and economic empowerment. The Association has districts in five states of Nigeria and one West African country: Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Lagos, Kwara, Osun, Oyo, and Ghana respectively. Members cut across various professions and business outfits.

Aims and Objectives
- To be a vanguard of Islamic propagation and to strengthen the Islamic faith in Nigeria and the whole world.
- To encourage, promote and foster the spirit of Islamic sisterhood.
- To encourage all round education both in mundane and religious matters
- To advocate improved budgetary allocation for education by the government at all levels.
- To encourage girl child education
- To be a strong advocate towards the government in giving priority to maternal and child health.
- To mobilize women on the need to ensure healthy living within the family.
- To encourage women to partake in decision making process in their immediate community
- To influence the policy to include women in positions of authority.
- To set up an NGO to alleviate poverty in women.
- To promote the general welfare of humanity, especially Muslims as well as to protect and defend their rights and interests at all times and in all places.
- To organize adult education for illiterate women.
- To encourage members to study the Holy Qur’an and learn the Arabic language, as a means of promoting the understanding of Islam and commitment to it.
- To co-operate and collaborate with other bodies whose aims and activities are similar to that of the Criterion and consistent with Islamic principles on mutually beneficial basis.
